The storyteller first describes the wallpaper as, lame diffident curves for a itty-bitty distance they suddenly commit suicide--plunge off at usurious angles, destroy themselves in unheard of contradictions, (Gilman). Deep down the teller knows that she does not have a temporary queasy depression. She is uncertain in all her actions. Her husband wants her not to do any kind of work.
